Top Ten Tuesday – Titles with Numbers
Top Ten Tuesday / October 1, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl. This feature gives a weekly Top Ten list. We all love lists, right? This week’s theme is : Book Titles with Numbers In Them (You could really challenge yourself and do numbers 1-10 or just any numbers at all. Submitted by Emma @ Words and Peace) SO I tried to stick to only books that I have read and have read and I tried to go sequentially. However, I got stuck with the number 8, and for number 5 I used I book I have but have not yet read. So I threw in a couple of extras, because why not? I also avoided using the number in a series a book is, otherwise I would have used the eighth book in a series for number eight. 🙂 ZERO ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE I may not have read this yet, but I do have a copy and hope to read it! SIX SEVEN EIGHT? yeah, I got nothin that I’ve read or have. Sorry eight, you are just not a cool enough number evidently. NINE A couple random extras, just because my 5 and 8 were a bit weaker than I’d have…

Top Ten Tuesday – Favorite Non-Fantasy Books
Top Ten Tuesday / June 4, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl. This feature gives a weekly Top Ten list. We all love lists, right? I am modifying this weeks theme a bit because it asked for top 10 books of your favorite genre, but since so much of my blog is devoted to Fantasy, I decided to mix it up and list out 10 of my favorite non-Fantasy books…. of course some of these may be a bit of fantasy as well, but their predominant genre would be something else. And I won’t commit that these are my absolute favorite top 10, because well, I know I will think of books later that I wished I had included. That’s just the way it goes. But these are 10 of my favorite non-fantasy (which means for me they are all either horror or science fiction since I don’t read much else)

Top Ten Tuesday – Page to Screen
Top Ten Tuesday / May 14, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl. This feature gives a weekly Top Ten list. We all love lists, right? This week’s theme is Page to Screen Freebie (Books that became movies/TV shows, movies that became books, great adaptations, bad ones, books you need to read before watching their movie/TV show, movies you loved based on books you hated or vice versa, books you want to read because you saw the movie or vice versa, etc.) It’s been decades since I read the book, but the recent movie was fantastic, and I am so excited to see there is going to be a sequel This book was just a fun read, and the movie was every bit as fun and exciting. I’ve only read one of the books in this series, but really enjoyed it and want to read more. That said, I am really looking forward to this adaptation coming from Netflix. Hoping it holds up as well as the books! If nothing else, the promo looks awesome. Whenever people talk about the books always being better than the adaptation, I pull this out as my example of the rare exception. I read all (or almost all, there…

Top Ten Tuesday – First 10 Books I Reviewed
Top Ten Tuesday / April 23, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl. This feature gives a weekly Top Ten list. We all love lists, right? This week’s theme is  (First Ten) Books I Reviewed (These do not have to be formal reviews. A small sentence on a retailer site or Goodreads counts, too! Submitted by Rissi @ Finding Wonderland) This list is quite the throwback to 2013. I actually was surprised to really think about that and realize I’ve been reviewing for 6 years because it often feels like I’m still “new” at this. This list has a number of books that are still favorites to this day, a couple where I am not sure I would rate quite the same if I were to review them now and some that still deserve more attention.

Top Ten Tuesday – Rainy Day Reads
Top Ten Tuesday / April 16, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl. This feature gives a weekly Top Ten list. We all love lists, right? This week’s theme is  Rainy Day Reads (submitted by Shayna @ Clockwork Bibliotheca)I had a really hard time deciding what would constitute a good “rainy day read” for me, because honestly, just getting to have a rainy day read is what I love and the books can vary. But I decided to go with books that I found very addictive quite quickly. I also tried to keep them under 400 pages with the thought of “quick reads”, but there are some that went over.

Top Ten Tuesday – Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book
Top Ten Tuesday / April 2, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl. This feature gives a weekly Top Ten list. We all love lists, right? This week’s theme is  Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book Female characters that kick ass Yes, I like when girls can fight and use the ability to put any doubters in their place and also break Scheming and backstabbing Have to admit, I love me some political intrigue. Thieves Yes, I love rooting for the bad guys, especially if they are sneaky Assassins OK, so I don’t limit the sneakiness to thieves, I also quite enjoy a good assassin prowling in the shadows. Magic OK, I do often enjoy low fantasy, but I do love a good, fun magic system (or ability) Misfits and Underdogs I like to see “misfits” become the heroes, it’s just fun wish fulfillment I think. Orphans I know, it’s cliche in fantasy, but I do love a good orphan comes from nothing but becomes super powerful/ or important story. Secret Life I also love characters that appear to be one thing by day, but really have a completely different identity by night (doesn’t have to be day versus night, just in general,…

Top Ten Tuesday – Standalone Books
Top Ten Tuesday / March 12, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl. This feature gives a weekly Top Ten list. We all love lists, right? This week’s theme is  Standalone Books Technically, the suggested theme was Standalone Books that Need a Sequel, but I find that the standalones I am happy with, even if I think I’d enjoy reading more, I don’t think they *need* a sequel. That’s kinda the point. So I’m just listing 10 of my favorite standalones.

Top Ten Tuesday – Places Mentioned In Books I’d Like to Visit
Top Ten Tuesday / February 26, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl. This feature gives a weekly Top Ten list. We all love lists, right?    This week’s theme is  Places Mentioned In Books That I’d Like to Visit (submitted by Georgia @justreadthemm) The Eolian My first pick is the The Eolian. A place where the top musicians come to try and earn their pipes (the highest honor, that will pretty much ensure they can work as a musician anywhere). There are so many reason why I love The Kingkiller Chronicles, and the magic of The Eolian is definitely one of them.   Glamourist Histories I honestly can not remember what the setting for this one was exactly, but it’s pretty much Regency with magic and glamours. It just sounds beautiful, so I wanna go. Camorr A city of canals, bridges, and elderglass (which can glimmer in the dark), towers of different colors, it just sounds beautiful. The Great Library I mean, the name says it all. Even if the people running this library are a bit evil, I still want to go. Just have to make sure not to piss off the killer automatons guarding it.    The Just City A place where the greatest…
