Throwback Thursday – My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland
Throwback Thursday / April 25, 2019

Throwback Thursday is a weekly feature to highlight books from the past. It can honestly be anything as long as its not a book that is a current release. Maybe its a book that I read and reviewed and just want to highlight, maybe its a book I read before I started reviewing or maybe its a book that has a sequel coming out soon or maybe its a backlist book from my TBR that I just want to revisit and decide if I will make the time to read. Pretty much, anything goes.  This week’s choice is My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland. This was a fun, fast read with a great lead character. I have to admit, I was a bit unsure about this one before I read it, but was incredibly glad I did. Now I just need to catch up with the series! I’m so used to thinking “zombies” equates to placing a book in the horror genre. But honestly, I think I am going to file this one under Urban Fantasy, because while yes, there are zombies and a serial killer, both things that could very easily, and maybe even typically, go the way of horror, the tone of this remains light hearted thanks to…

Stacking the Shelves – September 12, 2015
Stacking the Shelves / September 12, 2015

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way since my last post! I’ve been trying to cut back on my requests and purchases until I manage to do some catch up, but no one can resist completely! And also because of this, all the books I have gotten in the past few weeks I am very excited for! Received for Review                 Mystic by Jason Denzel – This was my WoW post this week, as I am really looking for to reading this one! I absolutely love books that feature a protagonist breaking through the social barriers and making waves by doing something that they’ve been told is not their place or right to do. I also love books with a strong female protagonist, and this book sounds like it would feature both of these in a wonderful way. Add in the mystery magic of the Myst, and I am completely intrigued, I honestly can’t wait to read it. Many thanks to Tor books for sending me this early review copy. The Killing Kind by Chris Holm – This finished copy was…

Audiobook Review: Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues by Diana Rowland
3.5 Stars , Reviews / August 31, 2015

This series continues to be a fun Urban Fantasy. Despite the mention of zombies, I still hold that this is in no way horror. Everything about being a zombie is presented in more of a humorous way rather than a eery, creepy or scary way. Don’t get me wrong, there is some tension and suspense, but nothing I would ever consider reminiscent of a  horror book. Which is perfectly fine, because it is obviously not trying to be that. I just know some readers hear “zombie” and think “horror”. Nope, not the case here. Angel continues adjusting her life as needed after becoming a zombie. Keeping brain smoothies and rations readily available to keep her body from rotting and falling apart. It also comes in handy for unexpected injuries, because evidently when you’re a zombie, you can never be sure when you might be shot, stabbed or otherwise violently injured. Angel goes through it all with her snarky, sarcastic commentary keeping even the hardest scenes upbeat and amusing. She is also able to kick some serious ass which always brings a smile to face as well. I enjoyed this one, but did feel I enjoyed it a bit less than the…
