Waiting on Wednesday – Uncanny Collateral by Brian McClellan

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme that was hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon. It has gone the way of the wind and is no longer hosted there. But Wishful Endings is now hosting Can’t Wait Wednesday so we can keep the momentum going and link up there.

OK, Brian McClellan writing urban fantasy?? I definitely feel like I need to check this one out! Plus it sounds like it has quite an intriguing list of characters.

Alek Fitz is a reaper, a collection agent who works for the supernatural elements of the world, tracking down debtors and solving problems for clients as diverse as the Lords of Hell, vampires, Haitian loa, and goblins. He’s even worked for the Tooth Fairy on occasion. Based out of Cleveland, Ohio, Alek is the best in the game. As a literal slave to his job, he doesn’t have a choice.

When Death comes looking for someone to track down a thief, Alek is flung into a mess of vengeful undead, supernatural bureaucracy, and a fledgling imp war. As the consequences of failure become dire, he has few leads, and the clock is ticking. Only with the help of his friend Maggie—an ancient djinn with a complex past—can he hope to recover the stolen property, save the world, and just maybe wring a favor out of the Great Constant himself.

It’s a hell of a job, but somebody’s got to do it . . .

  1. This looks pretty awesome. I love the sound of the supernatural elements, including a djinn- yay! I love it when more uncommon type creatures show up. 🙂

    Fantastic cover too.

  2. Thank you for bring this to my attention! I love Gods of Blood and Power and have been meaning to read more by him.
This sounds like a lot of fun, but I don’t think I’ll like it 🙁 From the Goodreads page, it’s not a long read so I might try it anyway.
