Waiting on Wednesday – Zero Sum Game by S. L. Huang

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.

OK, if you haven’t heard me mention it before, I am a sucker for math. I was one of those dorks that loved math class to the point where all of my free electives in college were actually extra math classes. So, any book that features a female protagonist that loves math, instantly has my attention. And this one sounds terribly exciting!

Cas Russell is the geek’s Jack Reacher… ZERO SUM GAME is a smart, accessible sf thriller with blockbuster appeal.

Cas Russell is good at math. Scary good. The vector calculus blazing through her head lets her smash through armed men twice her size and dodge every bullet in a gunfight, and she’ll take any job for the right price.

As far as Cas knows, she’s the only person around with a superpower…until she discovers someone with a power even more dangerous than her own. Someone who can reach directly into people’s minds and twist their brains into Moebius strips. Someone intent on becoming the world’s puppet master.

Cas should run, like she usually does, but for once she’s involved. There’s only one problem…She doesn’t know which of her thoughts are her own anymore.

  1. I love the idea of this one – and it’s always lovely to hear of someone who has written a gem to get scooped up with a chance of greater recognition. It’s also one I’d love to read…

  2. This sounds intriguing indeed and I love that this is a success story. Can’t wait to read your final thoughts.
