There are some things that just can’t be unseen. And this graphic novel definitely contains some pages that trigger that. Some of us delight at the unexpected, cringe worthy images that make you shiver and squirm in your seat. Make a face between laughing and like you just sucked on a lemon as you double check. Yeah, that image is what you thought it was. You know that type of picture. You look at it a bit longer than you think you should because your brain is still trying to come to terms with the image. You can’t quite decide what your reaction should be. It might be revulsive, but somehow there’s a level of fascination and just enjoyment at the unexpected that keeps you looking at it. Even if it means feeling like you need to go scrub your eyeballs and brain free of the sight. Well, theres a couple of those in here. So if you delight in that, than this book is for you. I also found that it’s easy to miss some of the images on the screens, I would almost (but not quite) forget to check out that detail of the story.
It was another great volume for Saga. Volume 2 brings us a bit of family drama, more background on Marko and his parents. A bit of secret book club. It is interesting seeing a couple in a book deal with an infant. As well as dealing with in laws from a warring planet/race. We see many of the secondary characters from the first Volume. Izabel, their ghostly babysitter, is still one of my favorites. She seems to lighten the mood a bit. Lying cat is great fun too. I wish I had a lying cat, though my kids might hate it.
For fans of the first Volume, there’s no letting up here. More great time, cringe worth images and all.
A secret book club? Hmm… I’m not a cat person per say, but I am intrigued by the one featured in this story, and I do love images that make me cringe. Fab review!

My library doesn’t have it. And I liked but didn’t love the first one so not ready to commit to buying it. But someday I will get there.

“There are some things that just can’t be unseen.” Pretty good tagline/summary for this series, actually! 😛 Love this series (though I still have to read volume 3, which has been on my nightstand for months now)…I really hope you’ll get a chance to check out Vaughan’s other stuff when you’re done with Saga, I think you’ll really like Y the Last Man!

I did check, and my library has Y the Last Man. Yay! But I think I may try another series (like Sandman or Fables) before moving to that one. Will definitely get to it eventually though!

Yep, that cover tells it’s own story! It’s very eye catching with the colours – then you realise the guy on the front isn’t wearing some kind of face covering but is splattered with blood. I haven’t read a lot of graphic novels – only the first few of Sandman (which I still have to complete) and one of the Dresden Files. It’s a massive field to get into and knowing where to start is really a bit daunting. I do like the Sandman novels though – I guess a few of the scenes in there could be described as disturbing to say the least but I like the thread that runs through the series. Plus I love the Endless – particularly the character Death (that just sounds weird and slightly disturbed doesn’t it!!! but I’m sure I’m not alone in liking that character.)

NO mom you don’t want to look! Jeezuz I didn’t realize how RIGHT that line was til I flipped the page. gag! So I know exactly what you mean lemon sucking and all wait wait I like lemons ….something worse. Anyways it was still hilarious and touching and just everything – this series has the whole bag so far.

I’ve only read Volume One and I’ve already seen some pretty cringe-worthy yet fascinating images. Oh, Sextillion. Had someone seen what I was reading, that would’ve been hard to explain. I’m glad to see that you’re still loving the series – hopefully I’ll get my hands on Volume Two soon!
