Stacking the Shelves – December 2, 2017

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way since my last post!

I waited entirely too long to do a book haul post! This is probably just under half of the physical books I’ve received since my last StS post. I will post the others soon so I keep up better than I have before. I’m really excited by these new additions! My reading and blogging has been slow lately, but I am starting to find my way back into a more normal routine, which will help tremendously!

Received for Review

The Feed by Nick Clark Windo – I’m really excited about this one, I love speculative fiction that takes our current technology to a frightening level. Many thanks to William Morrow and LibraryThing!

Blockbuster Science by David Siegel Bernstein– This was a surprise arrival and sounds pretty intriguing. I’m not sure if I will get to it soon, but I am hoping to check it out in the future. Many thanks to Prometheus Books!

Breach of Containment by Elizabeth Bonesteel – This was another surprise arrival. I have some catching up to do with this series (this is the third book), but it does sound like a lot of fun. Many thanks to Harper Voyager.

The Core by Peter V. Brett – The final book in the Demon Cycle! Looking forward to finding out what happens to Arlen, Leesha and the rest. Many thanks to Del Rey!

Successor’s Promise by Trudi Canavan – I’ve been enjoying this series and was excited to get a copy for review. I have read it already, and should have a review sometime soon! Many thanks to Orbit!

The Two of Swords Volume One by K. J. Parker – I’ve yet to read anything by Parker that I haven’t loved. I don’t tend to do as well with serial fiction, short stories, etc. so was very happy to see Orbit releasing volumes of this serial novel. Thanks again to Orbit!

Tor sent me a couple of unexpected goodies as well!

First up is Last Chance by Gregg Hurwitz – I’ve not read the first book in this series, but it does sound really good! I may need to find out if I can read this one independently, because that certainly makes it easier to get to! Thanks to Tor Teen for the copy!

And then there is the first book in a new military SF series, Valiant Dust by Richard Baker – I am hoping to find the time read this one. Many thanks to Tor!

Digital Review Copies

The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch – I am really looking forward to getting to this one sometime in the near future, sounds like it should be a thrilling read. Many thanks to G.P. Putnam’s Sons for the review copy.

Impostor Syndrome by Mishell Baker – I ;ove this series so much, so I am definitely excited to get the next book! Thanks to Saga Press!

Daughters of the Storm by Kim Wilkins – This is another one I am really excited to read. It has a bit more romance focus than my typical reads, but sometimes I crave that, so having this on hand is perfect! Thanks to Del Rey!

Iron Gold by Pierce Brown – Who DOESN’T want this book?? So excited to be able to read it in the near future! Thanks again to Del Rey!

Paper Ghosts by Julia Heaberlin– I am crazy excited to read this one. I love books where you’re not sure if someone is a serial killer or not, or if they are mentally ill, etc. Really looking forward to reading this one soon! Many thanks to Ballentine Books!

  1. I still need to read Red Rising!! It’s in my TBR pile. I just haven’t made it a priority yet. :S

As for me, I haven’t bought more books recently, mainly because I put several on my Christmas list. But I’m hoping to get through as many 2017 books as I can in December for catch-up’s sake. I think the next one in my pile in Skullsworn by Brian Staveley.

  2. That’s quite a haul all right! I was surprised the new releases haven’t slowed as we moved into November and December, like in previous years. I usually use these months to do catch up, but I find I’m still so busy with new releases.

  3. What a great haul. I definitely want the Mishel Baker book but I’m going to wait for audio because I’m loving listening to those. Happy reading.
    Lynn 😀
