Waiting on Wednesday – Artemis by Andy Weir

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine to let us share our excitement for books coming out soon.

I loved the Martian, so yeah. I am really, really looking forward to this one. I loved the balance of excitement and humor, and science. Hoping this one is every bit as enjoyable. Plus, I love criminal protagonists, and this one sounds incredibly fun.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal.
Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you’re not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you’ve got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent.
Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of Jazz’s problems, as she learns that she’s stepped square into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself – and that now, her only chance at survival lies in a gambit even more unlikely than the first.

  1. If The Martian ended up not being my kind of book, the premise for this one sounds more like what I like reading, so I might give Weir’s writing another chance with this one. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  2. This does sound pretty good, and I kinda like the Moon vibe and the shady stuff she does on the side. 🙂 Looks like a good read.
