Stacking the Shelves – March 18, 2017

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature all about sharing your good luck in book acquisitions! So here’s what came my way since my last post!

It’s been another couple of great weeks for book additions!

Received for Review

Sins of the Empire by Brian McClellan. OK, I’m excited to have more after the Powder Mage trilogy, so was excited to get my hands on this first in a new series by McClellan. I enjoyed each of those books more than the last. Many thanks to Orbit for the review copy!

Wilders by Brenda Cooper – I have read some high praise for Brenda Cooper’s other books, so am looking forward to finally reading one of her books. This one is the start in a new series, so seems like a great point to jump in. My thanks to Pyr!

A Gathering of Ravens by Scott Oden My. From the blurb “an epic novel of vengeance, faith, and the power of myth.” – Umm, Yes, Please!! Many thanks to Thomas Dunne books for the review copy.

Soul of the World by David Mealing  – This may be my most anticipated debut epic fantasy this year. It just has the sound of everything I love. Can’t wait to read it. My thanks to Orbit Books for the review copy.

The Evaporation of Sofi Snow by Mary Weber. I may not be a gamer, but I love to read about them, and this one sounds like it could be really fun. Many thanks to Thomas Nelson books!

Ghosts of Tomorrow by Michael R. Fletcher – Beyond Redemption was such an impressive book, I know I need to read more by Fletcher. When he offered a review copy of his latest, I had to take him up on it. Many thanks to the author for the review copy.

Purchases

Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews – To finish off my r/fantasy Bingo card, I had to read a self published/indie book. I also had more time to fit in an audiobook (which eliminated Senlin Ascends, my first choice for print reading). So, I looked around, decided I was in the mood for urban fantasy and found this that had originally been released as a web serial.

  1. I’m reading “Sins of Empire” right not and enjoying it very much! I never found the time to go beyond “Promise of Blood” with the first trilogy, but this is completely new and although it’s set in the same world, it deals with complete new characters (except for Vlora) and a new region in this world. Quite compelling… 🙂
