Friday Firsts is a new meme that will run every Friday here on Tenacious Reader. It will feature the first few sentences/paragraph of my current book and my first impressions as well. It’s meant to be a quick and easy way to share a bit about what I am reading, and I would love to hear others join in sharing their current reads as well.
I am starting this because I’m curious to see how that first bit of a book is going, can the first page (or chapter/etc) pull me in, or is this a book that will take some patience? I am hoping others will join in because I’d love to hear how other people’s books start out. We talk a lot about final impressions of books in our reviews, sometimes we mention first impressions, but by the end of a book our first impressions can sometimes be forgotten or tainted by later reading experiences. I am hoping to capture that pure first impression here, as well as including quotes from the very beginning of the book to help give others an idea of it starts out.
Also, if this is something you would like to participate in, but are unsure about the day, I am thinking this can be a Thursday or Friday post (regardless of which day I post, I will welcome people posting either day. I suppose you could say its easier to be First on Friday if you just post on Thursday, right? right? hmmm.. ). I could change the name of the meme, or move it to Thursdays if it sounds like overall a different day of the week would be better for most people. Not that anyone has to join me. I will share my first thoughts on these books either way, and am just welcoming others to join in if they’d like to. If a different day would make that easier for more people, I can do that.
My first one will go live today, the format is really simple. Include a quote. Include first impressions, it will not be a long drawn out analysis of the text or grand speculation of what is to come. Just a brief overview of how I’m feeling about the beginning of the book.

This is such an awesome idea! I used to do something like this when I first started my blog when I was reading ASOIAF (back on blogspot – before I moved to WordPress). Every couple of days I would write post about my thoughts and impressions and theories about what I had just read.
Maybe I’ll join with some of my Med School books… but all of my impressions will be the same: there is so much to read and memorize and study! I just want to go back to reading about dragons and magic!!!! Lol XD
